A Night at the Ball Game with CMAA on August 14th
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 14th!
CMAA will be the featured nonprofit of the night for the August 14th WooSox Game against the Syracuse Mets. There will be a pre-game recognition of CMAA and an outreach table in the concourse as well throughout the game.
Join us to celebrate older adults and caregivers, learn more about local resources, and enjoy some baseball!

Let’s Make Worcester Liveable for Everyone
The Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging is working with dozens of community partners to formally designate Worcester as an AARP Age-Friendly Community!
The AARP Age-Friendly Community Initiative exists to:

- enhance personal independence in communities
- help residents to remain in their homes and communities as they age
- provide opportunities for residents of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds to engage fully in civic, economic, and social life
Age-Friendly Worcester will make the city more liveable by:

- supporting current community efforts to improve Worcester
- creating tangible changes that benefit people of all ages across Worcester
- focusing on specific areas of concern relevant to Worcester, including accessible transportation, affordable housing, and more!

CMAA To Hold Special Bidders’ Conference
The Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging will hold a Special Bidders’ Conference on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 at 10:00 AM virtually.

The purpose of this Special Bidders’ Conference is to review our American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funding Priorities, the application process, including letters of intent, and highlight criteria used by the Planning and Allocations Committee in its review of proposals.

WLEN’s Rainbow Lunch Club is Back!
2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month

The Rainbow Lunch and Supper club offers LGBTQIA+ older adults age 50+ a nutritious meal, an opportunity to socialize with friends and enjoy various activities including special entertainment and educational programs.
There is a suggested $2.50 anonymous donation from guests age 60 and older. The fee for all guests under the age of 60 is $5.50.

Concert on the Templeton Common

The Templeton Cultural Council is presenting a “Throwback to the ’60s” concert on the Common on Sunday, July 25th beginning at 2:00pm.
Bring your lawn chair or blanket down to the Templeton Common for FREE family-friendly fun and great tunes!
Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Senior Picnic
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Annual Senior Picnic will take place on August 21st from 11:00am to 1:00pm at SAC Park (438 Lake Street, Shrewsbury).
Along with a BBQ meal, raffles, and prizes, there will be a free car wash.
This event will be a drive-thru and registration is required by August 5th.

- Connect callers to local services – such as accessible transportation – to overcome barriers to vaccination

FEMA Offering Support for COVID-19 Related Funeral Expenses
The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. COVID-19 Funeral Assistance will assist with expenses for funeral services and interment or cremation.
At this time, there is no deadline to apply for COVID-19 Funeral Assistance.
