Aging-Support Organizations and Agencies
Connect with local and national organizations that assist older adults and caregivers in Central Massachusetts and across the country.

As the Aging Services Access Point for the Worcester area, ESWA provides community-based services, support and education that maximize the independence and self-determination of elders, younger disabled individuals and their caregivers in Central Massachusetts.

As the Aging Services Access Point for Northern Central Massachusetts, Aging Services of North Central Massachusetts provides comprehensive information and quality services so that older people, individuals with disabilities and their families are empowered to make personalized choices to ensure a life of dignity, safety and respect.

As the Aging Services Access Point for Southern Central Massachusetts, Tri-Valley, Inc. provides information, referrals, and care management for in home and community services. Tri-Valley, Inc. is committed to the rights of elders and individuals with disabilities to live independently with dignity and safety in a setting of their choice.

The Center for Living & Working is a non-profit independent living center which empowers persons with disabilities to take active roles in their lives and in the community in which they live.

SHINE provides FREE unbiased health insurance counseling information and assistance to Massachusetts residents with Medicare, their caregivers and those approaching Medicare eligibility.

MCOA is the principal statewide organization to support municipalities, membership, and other organizations that serve older adults through advocacy, networking, professional development, consumer education, and resource opportunities.

The state’s governmental agency for older adults in the Commonwealth, they promote independence, empowerment, and well-being of older people, individuals with disabilities, and their families. They ensure access to the resources older adults need to live healthy in every community in Masschusetts.

As part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, ACL funds services and supports provided by networks of community-based organizations, and with investments in research, education, and innovation.

NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. NIA is the primary Federal agency supporting and conducting Alzheimer’s disease research.

The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) is a 501(c)(3) membership association representing America’s national network of 622 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and providing a voice in the nation’s capital for the more than 250 Title VI Native American aging programs.

The National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) is the leading national organization working to improve the lives of Hispanic older adults, their families and their caregivers.

The National Council on Aging was founded in 1950 as the first charitable organization in the U.S. to provide a national voice for older Americans and act as their advocates in dealing with service providers and policymakers.

 

Caregiving
Designed to provide information that meets the needs of caregivers and resources to support your caregiving efforts.

A part of Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc., the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren initiative provides support and resources for the growing population of older adults raising family members. They have a monthly virtual support group as well.

A collaborative effort between CMAA, Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc., Montachusett Home Care Corporation, and Tri-Valley, Inc. to provide caregivers with up-to-date information that supports caregiving efforts in Central Massachusetts. It includes local resources and information to help people prepare for a caregiving role.

The Family Caregiver Support Program is a free program offered through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help you care for a member of your family. A Caregiver Specialist will create a plan and give you tips and support.

A public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging connecting people to services for older adults and their families. The have a search tool to help find support in your area on a national level.

 

Elder Abuse / Senior Fraud
Resources to combat elder neglect, fraud, and abuse.

The Worcester County Elder Abuse Prevention Roundtable is a coalition of elder serving professionals. Members include law enforcement, elder service agencies, sexual and domestic violence service providers, and community service organizations. This was formed from a 2002 training grant through the Stop Abuse and Sexual Assault Against Older Individuals or Individuals with Disabilities Program. Since 2005 the coalition has continued to work to provide training, education, and outreach to help to prevent and reduce elder abuse in Worcester County. Any elder-serving professional in Worcester County is welcome to join.
