A Successful COVID-19 Booster Clinic and Senior Job Fair at CMAA
Thank you to all the organizations and participants who made our COVID-19 Booster Clinic and Senior Job Fair a huge success. We distributed over 150 vaccine boosters in a single day along with gift cards and other goodies! Thank you to UMass Memorial Health for helping to make this possible.

Sign Up for the Central MA Senior Dental Clinic
Have you heard about the Central Massachusetts Senior Dental Clinic? Through a partnership between CMAA and Quinsigamond Community College’s Dental program, this clinic offers comprehensive dental assessments, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments and other services for older adults ages 55+ in Central Massachusetts FREE OF CHARGE! Transportation to and from the clinic is provided by Yellow Cab, an additional program partner.
To schedule an appointment with the Central MA Senior Dental Clinic, call 508-854-4306 Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.

COVID-19 UPDATES
Please note that face masks are now required in Worcester as per an order from the the City.
Mouth and nose coverings are now required in all indoor spaces open to the public in the City of Worcester. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses, retail, restaurants, bars, clubs, places of assembly, and fitness establishments. This order will remain in effect until further notice.
Not in Worcester? Contact your local health department to learn more about your town or city’s face mask policies.

Unsure of where to get a booster shot or vaccine? There are several ways to do so in Massachusetts:
- Visit VaxFinder.Mass.Gov and search for a location near you
- Call 2-1-1 to speak to someone and find an appointment

Please note, all adults over the age of 18 are now encouraged by the CDC to receive a booster shot.

COVID-19 Booster Clinic and Senior Job Fair For Older Adults Ages 65+
($100 Holiday Grocery Gift Cards for Participants)
Are you 65 or older? Get your FREE COVID-19 vaccine booster at 330 Southwest Cutoff in Worcester on Friday, November 19th from 9:30am-3:30pm.
$100 grocery gift cards for all participants! Raffles for CVS and gas gift cards too! Local job and volunteer resources will also be available on site.
Call (508) 852-5539 or email info@seniorconnection.org by November 16th to sign up. This clinic is for ages 65 and older. There is a limited number of booster shots available, so don’t delay! First come, first served with sign-ups.

CMAA Participates in “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” Event
Did you know that more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s? (Source: Alzheimer’s Association)
At CMAA, we are committed to supporting community efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of older adults and caregivers. When we heard about the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, we jumped at the chance to join.
The CMAA outreach team worked hard to put together resources, materials, and goodies for community members who participated in the Walk. Our raffle baskets were an absolute hit too!

The Clinton Senior Center is teaming up with UMass Memorial Medical Center to bring the community a COVID-19 booster shot clinic.

DogFest New England 2021 at Polar Park
Polar Park is going to the dogs this weekend!
Gather your family and friends on Sunday, September 19th for DogFest New England, a local event full of fun activities and fundraising for Canine Companions, an organization that places service dogs with those who have disabilities.

Cuidando Con Respeto Caregiver Training Program
Cuidando con Respeto is a 6 hour, 3-week training program, facilitated by two trained practitioners. Each session meets once a week for 2 hours. The major emphasis of the training program is for caregivers to:
• Gain new knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias and an understanding of the different stages of the illness
• Develop skills needed to manage daily life including self-care skills
• Foster a sense of mastery in caregiving.

We are pleased to announce that the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging is teaming up with Hope & Comfort and Yes We Care Inc. to distribute OVER 14,000 BARS OF SOAP to older adults in Central Mass along with other hygiene items! These items also include bars from Pacha Soap Co., a favorite among many.
We are immensely grateful for those committed to improving the well-being of our aging populations.

Let’s Make Worcester Liveable for Everyone
The Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging is working with dozens of community partners to formally designate Worcester as an AARP Age-Friendly Community!
The AARP Age-Friendly Community Initiative exists to:
- enhance personal independence in communities
- help residents to remain in their homes and communities as they age
- provide opportunities for residents of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds to engage fully in civic, economic, and social life
Age-Friendly Worcester will make Worcester more liveable by:
- supporting current community efforts to improve Worcester
- creating tangible changes that benefit people of all ages across Worcester
- focusing on specific areas of concern relevant to Worcester, including accessible transportation, affordable housing, and more!

Pride Worcester 2021 Week officially kicks-off with the raising of the Pride flag and a proclamation that is read by the mayor. The ceremony will be held outside of City Hall and will feature voices representing a wide cross-section of the local LGBTQ community.

The Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging is working with dozens of community partners to formally designate Worcester as an AARP Age-Friendly Community!
The AARP Age-Friendly Community Initiative exists to:
- enhance personal independence in communities
- help residents to remain in their homes and communities as they age
- provide opportunities for residents of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds to engage fully in civic, economic, and social life
Age-Friendly Worcester will make Worcester more liveable by:
- supporting current community efforts to improve Worcester
- creating tangible changes that benefit people of all ages across Worcester
- focusing on specific areas of concern relevant to Worcester, including accessible transportation, affordable housing, and more!

New Mask Policies Across Massachusetts
With the increase in COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth, many towns, cities, businesses, and events are requiring people to wear a mask in areas of substantial or high risk.

At this time, there is no deadline to apply for COVID-19 Funeral Assistance.

A Successful Night at the Ball Game with CMAA
On August 14th, CMAA was the featured nonprofit of the night for the WooSox Game against the Syracuse Mets. There was a pre-game recognition of CMAA prior to the first pitch. Staff and members of the Board of Directors stood on the field as the Agency logo light up on the screen. Dr. Moses S. Dixon also spoke for the radio broadcast!
We want to extend a big thank you to the WooSox, The WooSox Foundation, Polar Park, and Polar Beverages for recognizing us as part of the Heart of Worcester.
CMAA Celebrates India Day 2021
We had a blast at the India Society of Worcester (ISW) India Day 2021 event earlier this month!
We provided many resources, materials, and goodies for folks. The live performances were incredible and we are so glad to have been involved!

We were pleased to help Joe Glover present at the Grafton Senior Center this week.
Joe Glover is the founder of ArchAngel Leadership and Executive Coaching LLC and a long-time Central Massachusetts local. His presentation on goal setting and daydreaming inspired a room full of people (and we had many laughs!)

Ice Cream Truck at Leicester Senior Center on August 24th
Join us on Tuesday, August 24th at the Leicester Senior Center for Uhlman’s Ice Cream! There will be an ice cream truck available between 11:00am-1:00pm with sweet treats for older adults and seniors. Come cool down, see friends, and have fun.

A Night at the Ball Game with CMAA on August 14th

CMAA To Hold Special Bidders’ Conference
The Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging will hold a Special Bidders’ Conference on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 at 10:00 AM virtually.

WLEN’s Rainbow Lunch Club is Back!

The Rainbow Lunch and Supper club offers LGBTQIA+ older adults age 50+ a nutritious meal, an opportunity to socialize with friends and enjoy various activities including special entertainment and educational programs.
There is a suggested $2.50 anonymous donation from guests age 60 and older. The fee for all guests under the age of 60 is $5.50.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Senior Picnic
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Annual Senior Picnic will take place on August 21st from 11:00am to 1:00pm at SAC Park (438 Lake Street, Shrewsbury).
Along with a BBQ meal, raffles, and prizes, there will be a free car wash.
This event will be a drive-thru and registration is required by August 5th.

Worcester Senior Center Reopening on June 15th
Great news! The Worcester Senior Center will be reopening its doors on Tuesday, June 15th.
Programs and services will be offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Virtual programs will continue to broadcast on Worcester Government Channel on Spectrum cable channel 192 as well as Facebook and YouTube.
Lunch reservations are required at least two days in advance by 10:30am and can be made by calling 508-799-8070 between 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. or 508-852-3205, ext. 290 after 1:00p.m.
Transportation to the Senior Center is currently fare-free, courtesy of the WRTA, via Bus Routes No. 1 and 11 as well as paratransit.
Those who are certified for ADA paratransit may schedule rides by calling 508-752-9283 or 1-877-743-3852. All trip reservations can be made as early as seven days in advance, but no later than 4:30p.m. the day before the trip.
All visitors are reminded that, per CDC guidelines, those who are not fully vaccinated are advised to wear a mask.

Elder Abuse Awareness Walk on June 12th
The Town of Pepperell will host an Elder Abuse Awareness Walk on Saturday, June 12th in honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
The walk will take place on the new walking path! A $10 donation via cash or check is required. Proceeds will benefit Montachusett Home Care’s Protective Service Agency. Participants will receive a t-shirt with an events logo on it.
